Our opinion:-

One of our preferred designs, an easy to pitch tunnel style tent with a vertical front wall with rainsafe canopy. This means that in poor weather especially rain the front door has some protection so you can enter and exit the tent with less water getting onto he groundsheet. Especially important as this tent in common with the vast majority of tents on the market has a sewn in groundsheet, so once water gets in to the tent you have got to mop it up. The groundsheet below the front door also flaps down making it less of a trip hazard and add entry and exit useful for children, prams and wheelchairs.

The Meadowood 4L also features a large front sun canopy to provide a cooking, storage area or just to sit out protected from the elements. There is an optional Front Vestibule available to enclose the canopy and provide more space to your tent

This easy to pitch tunnel tent uses fibreglass poles that slide into Mesh Pole sleeves. This is a feature normally only found on expensive mountain tents to reduce buffeting by the wind. The wind goes through the mesh rather than pushing against a solid fabric pole sleeve. The Polyester flysheet has a 4500mm Hydrostatic Head and UV protection as well as the usual taped seams so should give a good life span to the tent.

Another Coleman Feature that is hardly mentioned is the Zip park feature. The Zips in the bedroom compartments are designed so the zip pullers always end up in the same position when the doors are closed. This is a safety feature in case you need to exit the tent in an emergency, you will always know where the zip puller is for a quick escape. This is also at a height so the smaller children can reach it. A simple but important feature.

The big buying feature is Coleman’s Blackout Bedrooms. Most other manufacturers incorporate a darkened fabric into the inner tents of their tents, that just filter some light out of the bedroom area. Coleman have patented a System that incorporates a totally different type of fabric. This not only totally blocks out 99% of Light but also creates a temperature differential. This is claimed to keep the bedroom 5o cooler during the day and 1o warmer at night.

A nice sized living area should ensure a comfortable holiday.

Good valve for money with several features, especially Black-Out Bedrooms not found on other brands.

 What the manufacturer says:-

This large family tent is ideal for weekends away as well as longer breaks. The tent has an extended open front porch area offering additional living space with protection from the elements. The front porch can be closed off for additional weather protection with an easily attached zipped front face (Coleman 4L Vestibule sold separately). Fibreglass poles support the tent structure and ensure both a lighter weight package as well as flexibility to deflect stronger wind gusts while the fitted storm straps offer greater peace of mind in higher winds. The tent benefits from good head height throughout and several large windows provide plenty of light. The two bedrooms are extra-large and will comfortably fit larger airbeds and feature BlackOut Bedroom® technology blocking daylight, reducing the temperature during the day and increasing it at night, ensuring a more restful sleep for all the family. The windows also feature zipped window shades ensuring flexible levels of privacy and the main entrance has a drop-down doorway providing barrier-free access reducing possible trip hazards. Additional features include zipped cable entry points allowing access for powered accessories together multiple lantern attachment points. Ample ventilation is provided at the side and rear of the tent via a full width aperture to reduce condensation.

Manage the temperature

WeatherTec™ - offering comfort and protection when enjoying the outdoors.

A fabric's waterproof properties are measured using a rating called its hydrostatic head. If a tent has a hydrostatic head of 3000mm it means that a 3 metre column of water can be placed on its surface before any drops will show through the underside of the fabric. (The Ministry of Defence in the UK classifies fabric with a hydrostatic head of 800mm+ as waterproof).

There are many other factors which influence the performance of tent in tough weather conditions. Coleman use the latest technology and a rigorous testing regime to ensure that we keep you protected at all times - whatever the weather.

UV Guard™ Sun Protection.

Certified laboratory testing proves Coleman® UVGuard™ protection fabrics with an SPF50 provide excellent protection against the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Proper use of sunscreen combined with shelters made with UVGuard™ protection fabric can go a long way in the battle against sunburn and UV exposure.

    Good value for money

Posted by G Phillimore on 8th Jul 2021

Really pleased to find this tent on obicampingandleisure.co.uk as it is either sold out or charged at a higher price at other stores! I pitched it in the garden to test it. If you pitch it alone, you might struggle, but it's manageable; however, it's probably best to ask someone else to help you (watch a YouTube video on how to pitch it). I love the blackout bedroom feature. It really does make a difference! The bedroom feels cooler during the day and certainly block out all the lights. Bedroom size is just about the right size for 4 people, but this means you won't be able to put your items in the bedroom--which is fine as the living room area is quite big to store your items. The bedroom has a removable divider sheet in the middle. Mind you, it's a toggled divider, not a zipped divider that provides complete privacy. The living area is bigger than I expected, you can pop up several camping furniture in it. Nice open and airy feeling as the windows are big. Both doors have a mesh layer so you can open the doors to let the air in and keep the insects out. I love the porch feature, which will keep the inner tent dry when it's raining outside, shelter you before you go inside, even provide a place to store your wet boots. I can't comment much if it stands the wind. But it seems pretty sturdy and it has 4 storm straps. I will have to see later when I go camping in Pembrokeshire.
