How to Erect your Trailer Tent

These are generic instructions and there will be variations according to your exact model

Erecting the main cabin

  1. Unhitch your trailer tent and position the trailer.
  2. Use the Jockey wheel (if fitted) to level the trailer and ensue the handbrake(if fitted) is on.
  3. Wind down or lower the 4 corner steadies. (It is useful to place blocks of wood under the corner steadies to stop them sinking into soft ground)
  4. Remove the transit cover
  5. If a Kitchen unit is fitted UNPLUG THE LIGHTING CONNECTOR PLUG before Unfolding or lowering the legs on the kitchen unit.
  6. Unhook and place the Kitchen Unit to one side. (Kitchen units can be heavy so make sure you have help to move it)

For Conway/Cabanon/Sunncamp Trailer Tents you need to extend the cabin poles including joining together the apex poles before proceeding to step 7

For Raclet/Trigano/Jamet trailer Tents proceed straight to step 7

7.Open/unfold the uppermost bed board, ensuring the support legs are fully extended and supporting the bed board.

8.Open/unfold the 2nd bed board again ensuring support legs are fully extended to support the bed board.

(REMEMBER THE ORDER THE BED BOARDS UNFOLD AS THIS IS IMPORTANT WHEN PACKING AWAY AND COULD PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR TRAILER TENT)

  1. Eye along the bed boards to ensure they are horizontally level with the trailer. If required adjust the legs to ensure bed boards are level and supported.
  2. Unfold the cabin canvas
  3. (For Raclet/Trigano/Jamet Trailer Tents)Raise the centre or apex pole/poles to the lowest height adjustment position. Some models require clipping 2 poles together to form the centre apex other will require the poles to be lifted until the button catches engage in the lowest height adjustment hole.
  4. (For Raclet/Trigano/Jamet Trailer Tents)Extend the bedroom frame poles to the lowest height adjustment position.
  5. From outside close the cabin door and peg down the cabin canvas.
  6. If required extend the cabin poles to tighten canvas taking care not to over stress.
  7. Your trailer tent cabin is now assembled.

Erecting the Awning

  1. Unpack the awning poles and assemble any sprung connected sections.
  2.   The awning will usually attach to the cabin by poles with hocked ends that fit into holes in the main cabin poles or welded hocks on the main cabin   frame
  3. Locate the awning poles to connect to the cabin and attach to the main cabin. ENSURE any reinforcing patches are in the correct position to protect the canvas.
  4. Assemble the awning frame leaving any adjustable sections only half extended.
  5. Leave the leg poles at half height.
  6. Position the awning canvas over the awning frame and zip to the main cabin canvas.
  7. Extend the awning poles to tighten the canvas
  8. Extend the awning leg poles to full height.
  9. From outside close the awning doors
  10. Peg down the awning
  11. Peg out any guy ropes around the awning and cabin.
  12. Your awning is now ready to attach any roof linings and curtains.

Packing Away.

To pack your trailer tent away is a reversal of the above instructions.

Some helpful reminders are: -

  1. After removing the awning pegs loosen to awning frame and lower the legs to half height before unzipping the awning from the cabin.
  2. Try not to disconnect the awning frame until the canvas has been removed and folded. This will prevent the pole ends damaging your canvas.
  3. When folding the awning canvas, try to leave the awning canvas on top of the awning frame and fold the sides onto the roof section. This will help with folding the canvas and keeps it of the ground where it could get wet and muddy.
  4. Before folding the cabin bed boards ensure the poles have been lowered to there lowest position and the apex poles unclipped or lowered.
  5. Fold the cabin wall canvas onto the roof.
  6. Fold the bed boards in the correct order. (The bed board with the lowest hinge post is the first to fold).
  7. Once folded check to ensure no canvas is trapped between the cabin poles as this could damage the canvas in transit.
  8. After reattaching the kitchen ENSURE the plug and socket connector from the kitchen unit to the main trailer is reconnected YOUR TRAILER LIGHTS WILL NOT WORK IF YOU FORGET TO RECONNECT THIS PLUG.
  9. Ensure all corner steadies and kitchen legs are folded and locked before moving the trailer
  10. After hitching the trailer to your vehicle ensure the jockey wheel is fully raised, the lights are connected and the handbrake (if Fitted) is off
  11. Always double check the hitch connection and your lights before driving off

Remember :- Always ensure your trailer Tent canvas is fully dry before storing it away.

If you have to pack it away wet always re-erect your trailer tent as soon as possable to dry out. It is always advisable to fully peg out the canvas when drying to prevent shrinkage.
